Towards a Reader“s Anthropology
If newspaper and books sales figures keep falling, does this mean that now people read less than before? Unlike most of the polls which only take into account reading on paper, this book also analyzes the new ways of reading – on computers, tablets and smartphones- and the changes in libraries, the widespread of reading rooms, book clubs and book fairs.
This qualitative research, edited by Fundación Telefónica, about how youngsters and adults of different generations and cultural levels read (at home, at school or while travelling; individually or in groups), shows all the purposes that take people to read. Therefore, the work explores not how much people read, but when and how they read and this way it helps clarify the transformations going on in this practice.
