The Experience of the Mobile Learning Lab
The experience described in this publication is brought to us by the Mobile Learning Lab by Fundación Telefónica, which is intended to put forward educational experiences that can be applied in the classroom to illustrate the use of mobile technology in educational change.
The key challenge addressed by this applied research lies in encouraging the effective involvement of students in their own learning process, taking advantage of the mass access to mobile devices that adolescents have (starting at 12 years of age).
The teaching proposal developed has allowed students to: engage in a significant project that has to do with their regional community; identify singular themes or topics (environmental, cultural, historical, social, etc.) affecting their surroundings; compile and create information on that issue, and geolocate it on the map to create itineraries of interest for their community.
The finished work is available for other users by simply moving through the region with their smartphones.
