TELOS 87

The monographic dossier in this issue of Telos, directed by the Professor of audiovisual communication Hipólito Vivar (Complutense University) is about the demand for and also training of thus far non-existent professions that have arisen from the deep transformation in social communication and relationships with users. The profound transformation of technology caused by the development of the Internet has led to major changes in the value chain of the different sectors of communication. Not only have production processes been modified and tools changed, but also other forms of professional and business organisation have emerged and new functions are being required. This metamorphosis implies the need for many professional profiles, both traditional ICT profiles, and other new profiles arising mainly from the mass introduction of new digital technologies in all industrial sectors.

Media companies have been forced to restructure their traditional systems of content production due to the development of ICT and, later, with the advent of the Internet and social networks. The integration of these elements into the production process has forced professionals to adapt quickly to the new tasks associated with their positions. This has been a challenge in terms of how to go about training students for the new labour market, which requires an increasing level of digital skills.
