TELOS 83
The dossier of this 83rd issue of Telos is devoted to communication in mobility, a rabidly modern subject which in recent years has deeply changed social, cultural and financial relations. It was coordinated by Antonio Fumero (Polytechnic University of Madrid), an outstanding pioneer in new technological practices, who had already coordinated a previous dossier of our magazine on the world of blogs (Telos 65).
Mobility, or ubiquitous communication, today takes the form of multiple devices which are growing in number and in types, and are expanding exponentially in our society, not just in terms of coverage, number of lines, technology and broadband, but above all in terms of applications and social uses. Hence the title of our dossier, which looks well beyond the mobile phone to address the horizon of “social mobility”, or a “fourth screen” (cinema, TV, PC, mobile phone) in which every day new frontiers are being opened and conquered. In a way, this monograph builds on the previous dossier on interactive advertising (Telos 82), insofar as it adds to the reflection on the transformations of social communication with a characteristic sign: that of mobility, intimately related to the ubiquitous, multi-platform and interactive nature of new technologies.
