TELOS 78

The central dossier of this issue of Telos deals with the difficult and slow transition of schooling towards the new digital environment. The authors of the selected articles discuss some of the barriers and major challenges of transforming teaching and learning by introducing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and suggest that an educational model be designed for new generations based on the possibilities offered by new tools, resources and services in the evolutionary context of Web 2.0.

The core of the debate on the inclusion of ICT in education seems to unreservedly contemplate the need for a radical rethinking of educational tools and resources, an effective reorientation of the role and profile of teachers and other educational agents and, in general, a significant transformation of the very process of teaching and learning. After the technological and pedagogical efforts deployed in Spain and throughout the Western world on the whole, the transition to a Digital School model has advanced very little and in a very drawn-out fashion, in the view of the most pessimistic perceptions.
