The articles included in the monograph dossier in this issue, dedicated to the vast subject of creativity in digital culture, come from a seminar organised by Fundación Telefónica under the scientific coordination of Manuel Castells, which brought together a brilliant roster of international experts under the self-explanatory title of “Creativity and Innovation in Digital Culture”. In the wake of this seminar came reflections from highly diverse specialities which –converge– on the changes brought about by social networks and digital technologies.

The issue of creativity and innovation in digital culture has an importance and significance that is difficult to overstate. The creative capacity of human beings is always crucial in any process of development and change, but particularly so when we are in the midst of the knowledge era. Never before have we had at our disposal so many tools and options as we are offered by the Internet and new technologies, meaning that opportunities for creation are multiplying without any visible limits.
