As well as being a vital ingredient in a cultural and communicative recipe which creates an effective proximity in tastes, appearances and cultural practices, including every element of diversity, Spanish acts as a true economic value at many different levels. On the basis of an ambitious research project backed by Fundación Telefónica that is now underway and has already been partially presented at several international congresses, this central dossier includes advanced contributions that touch on methodologies, reflections and the difficulties involved in this project: from a macroeconomic assessment to the role played by the Spanish language teaching industry, including aspects such as the role of Spanish in the professional market and migrations.
