Stories of ICTs in Latin America and the Caribbean
The papers included in this publication, which has been edited by Fundación Telefónica, shape a view about what happened in several Latin American and Caribbean countries during the continuous process of ICT adoption within their different national contexts. This work presents the initiatives and the technical, social and political conflicts which surfaced parallel to the effort of 23 different countries to appropriate these technologies and, of course, it introduces the people and institutions that monitored such initiatives, from the university sphere, civil society organizations, the public sector and private companies. Stories, unpublished documents, original researches, unorthodox views, everything makes this work, written by technicians and historians, something outstanding within a field usually known by fast innovation and instant oblivion of the past.
