Child Labor in Uruguay: The paradox of survival in the trash
Fundación Telefónica wants to contribute to make visible children and adolescents in Uruguay who work in the collection and classification, up to 20,000 according to the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES). This task becomes an immediate element of survival for the poorest families, but eventually condemns its younger members to join the cycle of poverty by making them abandon school and therefore decreasing their possibility of choosing a better life and making marginality chronic from generation to generation.
